The Truth Behind the Law of Attraction
On a quest to discover the meaning of life and cultivate the experiences that shape me into my best self. Take what resonates with you and let go of the rest.
“If something you want is slow to come to you, it can be for only one reason: You are spending more time focused upon its absence than you are about its presence.”
– Esther Hicks
Ever since last year, I've been on a journey to explore spirituality. It's a pursuit often misunderstood, especially in my country, where it's commonly equated with religion. In truth, the two are quite distinct. My own exposure to religion began at a young age. With my mother working overseas, I was raised by my father's aunt, a devout Catholic who instilled in me the rituals and traditions of her faith.
Growing up in a country where divorce remains illegal, I was immersed in the rituals and ceremonies of the Catholic faith. I dutifully attended church every Sunday, memorized prayers, recited the rosary, and even studied the lives of saints and martyrs. Yet, I felt stifled, as if faith demanded a performance I couldn't deliver. I began to question: What if God, instead of demanding blind obedience, desired something more genuine? Did He truly seek a scripted performance? These doubts eventually led me to abandon any notion of God's existence during my early adulthood. However, in my late twenties, I unexpectedly found myself drawn to the teachings of Jesus and the Bible.
As I approach my thirties, I have started exploring Tarot cards, Astrology, the Law of Attraction, and other forms of esoteric knowledge. It's like an unquenchable thirst for spirituality, a never-ending journey, and that's where its beauty lies. At its core, esotericism suggests that hidden knowledge is accessible to a select few. Once you begin this search, you may experience a spiritual awakening of your higher inner self and consciousness. While the Law of Attraction might not traditionally be considered esoteric, I have included it in my studies as part of my broader exploration into esotericism.
While researching its origins online, I discovered a book where the Law of Attraction was first popularized. I approach the content with critical thinking, as it can sometimes seem unusual, but I learned that the Law of Attraction is just the first of three steps in the manifestation process. Though I am still practicing and applying what I learned, the process resonated with me. I've always felt that there was more to the law of attraction that was incomplete or missing.
The three steps of manifestation are:
The Law of Attraction
The Law of Creation
The Law of Allowing
Each of these laws pertains to how individuals can influence their reality and experience personal growth. Here's an overview of each:
1. Law of Attraction
The Law of Attraction posits that like attracts like, meaning that individuals can draw positive or negative experiences into their lives based on their thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. Your predominant thoughts and beliefs, whether positive or negative, will attract corresponding experiences. Techniques such as visualization and affirmations help focus the mind on desired outcomes, thereby attracting them. Emotions play a crucial role in this process: positive emotions are believed to raise your vibration and attract positive outcomes, while negative emotions lower your vibration and attract negative outcomes.
2. Law of Creation
The Law of Creation emphasizes that individuals actively shape their reality through their thoughts, intentions, and actions. By setting clear intentions, people can direct their energy and focus toward manifesting specific outcomes. While thoughts and intentions are essential, taking inspired and aligned actions is also necessary to achieve desired results. This law often incorporates the idea of co-creating with the universe, a higher power, or collective consciousness, suggesting that creation is a collaborative process between individuals and a greater force.
3. Law of Allowing
The Law of Allowing involves accepting and being open to the flow of the universe without resistance or attachment to specific outcomes. By accepting yourself and others without judgment, you enable situations to unfold naturally. Trust in the universe to bring about the best outcomes, even if they don't match your initial expectations. This law emphasizes surrendering control and letting the process unfold. Letting go of resistance, which can block the manifestation process, means being open to possibilities and not clinging to rigid expectations.
In embracing these principles, I've learned that true spiritual growth involves a balance of intention, action, and acceptance. The journey is continuous, filled with opportunities for awakening and enlightenment. Through this exploration, I've found a deeper connection to my higher self and a greater understanding of the forces that shape our reality. This path may be challenging, but it is also profoundly rewarding, offering endless possibilities for personal and spiritual development.
